...still a floor pisser. Ugh. :( She's fine on the days she's off the prednisone, but on prednisone days? Today was a bad day--almost as bad as last Friday's lake o' pee bad.
Remember, she's on the low dose of prednisone to keep the post-eating vomiting under control. Every other day, 2.5mg. She still vomits every now and then, but not as often as when she's not on pred at all. Thing is, pred can cause excessive urination, and she's already urinating a lot from all the fluids we give her plus drinking water regularly. Definitely can't have her vomiting, but we cant' have her pissing like a racehorse all over the bathroom, either...
So I call the vet. Dr. B. this time. Verifies her kidney numbers are fine. Asks if I think she's losing bladder control. I figure she would be peeing all over the house if that were the case, but she's only peeing outside the box right around the front of the guest bath toilet and sometimes under the litter catch mat (still trying to figure out how she moves the mat and puts it back without getting any urine on top of the mat...) It's not a matter of senility--the litter box is right there in the room with her. She *is* going in the box sometimes--Diva doesn't put out that much urine and Ra doesn't typically use the litter box in the bathroom, and I think she's also using the box in the hallway as well... I dunno, I think the floor pissing is a habit she's developed out of discomfort or something from past urinary tract infections that have rectified themselves on their own.
He says to stop the pred and see what happens. We can always put her back on the pred if she starts vomiting too much. How much is too much? After every meal is too much, but a few times a week is not. Evidently there's really no med other than prednisone for vomiting to substitute for her, elsewise he would've suggested it, I would think.
If we need to put her back on the prednisone, Dr. B. suggests we try kitty Prozac with the prednisone in order to rule out behavioural/nervous pissing. I hate to have a stoned out kitteh, though, and I hate to see her on yet another med at her age...
Le sigh. If it ain't one thing, it's another...At least this week hasn't merited a trip back to the vet...
