I'm proudly childfree. I earned bachelor of arts degrees in Criminal Justice and Sociology on 18 May 2003 from University of Wisconsin-Parkside. It only took me 12 1/2 years--talk about a non-traditional student! I'm currently owned by three cats: a 12-year-old void cat, Dorene, whom is called Weena most of the time, and two littermate almost one-year olds named Charlie Sue and Bertha Noelle.

Other good things to know before diving in...I'm an adult orphan. My father passed away from sudden cardiac arrest on 27 May 2003. My mother passed away from complications of a disease called primary systemic amyloidosis on 28 May 2005, the very same disy author Robert Jordan. I'm aunt/Godmother to a young woman (20-something now and a grade school teacher!), who is the only youngin I'll ever admit to worshipping who seems to think I'm pretty awesome. I'm horribly addicted to caffeine, toilet humour, and lots of different types of music played REALLY LOUD. I am a poster girl with no poster. I am 32 flavours and then some...

"I wanted a perfect ending. Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious Ambiguity."
- Gilda Radner (28 June 1946-20 May 1989)

"..a woman's sexuality is in direct proportion to her intelligence."
-Jay Leno

"Don't compromise yourself. You're all you've got."
-Janis Joplin

"I refuse to label...We're all just people made out of the same old dirt, and God didn't make any junk."
Tammy Faye Messner, 1942-2007

Quotes from Eleanor Roosevelt
"We do not become heroes overnight. Just a step at a time, meeting each thing that comes up, seeing it is not as dreadful as it appears, discovering we have the strength to stare it down. The thing always to remember is that you must do the thing you think you cannot do."

"A woman is like a tea bag- you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water."

"Friendship with oneself is all-important, because without it one cannot be friends with anyone else in the world."

"Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people."

"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do."

"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

"People grow through experience if they meet life honestly and courageously. This is how character is built."

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."

"Hope is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense regardless of how it turns out."
-Vaclav Havel

"People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within."
-Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

"The essence of Christianity is told us in the Garden of Eden history. The fruit that was forbidden was on the tree of KNOWLEDGE. The subtext is, All the suffering you have is because you wanted to find out what was going on. You could be in the Garden of Eden if you had just keep your fucking mouth shut and hadn't asked any questions."
-Frank Zappa

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public."
--Theodore Roosevelt, 1912

Amendment I

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." What is success?
To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by
a healthy child, a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed
easier because you have lived;
This is to have succeeded.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

My lover asks me:
"What is the difference between me and the sky?"
The difference, my love,
Is that when you laugh,
I forget about the sky. --Nizar Qabbani

A Cherokee Fable
A Cherokee Indian elder was teaching his grandchildren about life.
He said to them, “A fight is going on inside me...
it is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.
One wolf represents fear, anger, envy, sorrow,
regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment,
inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other stands for joy, peace, love, hope,
sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence,
friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.
This same fight is going on inside of you, and inside every other person, too.”
The children thought about it for a minute and then
one child asked his grandfather,
”Which wolf will win?”
The Cherokee elder replied simply ...
”The one you feed.”

"Contrary to today's stereotypes, racists do not always chew tobacco and drive pickup trucks with gun racks. They wear silk shirts, treat women as possessions, and talk about human rights at cocktail parties far from communities of people of color. The men in pickup trucks are just as likely to be as warm and caring as the high minded liberals are to be racists."
- Wilma Mankiller

"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro."
Hunter S. Thompson 1937-2005

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." Dr. Seuss (1904 - 1991)

"In the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about HOPE." Barack Obama
