Well we brought her in this morning and Dr. B. gave her a good looksee. Says her intestines feel inflamed and hard to the touch, which concerns him. He wanted to keep her overnight in order to do a series of barium x-rays over the course of the day today and early tomorrow morning in order to see if he could spot the problem that way. It could be the intestines/stomach or her pancreas or both. Right now he's focused on the stomach/intestines.
He looked at her stool sample with concern as well. Too little and too hard, I think--he didn't comment except to ask if this was her normal output. The consistency was fairly normal but the size was a bit smaller than normal. That made me worry, too--like has the problem been developing and we didn't notice sooner?
He mentioned liquid feedings--didn't say if that entailed a feeding tube or not, but still...liquid feedings. Everything sounds scary right now.
Interestingly enough he's not concerned with her kidneys or doing bloodwork to check them as we just had her blood work done about a month ago--says he thinks that's all stable based on the looks of her. Thing is, in order to judge pancreatic function I think he needs to do a blood draw. We shall see, I guess.
Weird part is, vomiting aside and somewhat lack of food interest aside, her behavior is normal--bright eyed, vocal, affectionate, responsive. Good colour to her ears, eyes and gums. Hopefully these are all good signs and not giving us a false sense of security.
Seriously thinking of stopping in at the vet's before they close at 1900 to see her, even though she's supposed to come home tomorrow--I'm to come at 1100 for her if I don't hear differently before then. Her absense is large in the house today...
I'm scared for my baby girl. :(
