Jazz in her bed at my old flat

This picture is an example of why I'm fond of the first urn in my last post. When Jazz came to live with me in 1996 she came with the cat bed she's relaxing in in the picture. Her previous owners advised me she never used this bed, but once she was settled in at my place she took to the bed to chill out and relax quite often. I think it helped that I kept the bed underneath the heating vent in a quiet area of the living room, that she felt comfortable and safe there.

Once I moved down to Bolingbrook, her bed (and she a good chunk of the time) took up residence in the office, where J and I spend a great deal of time playing on our respective computers. The bed is located right inside the span of the door next to the door way, which seems like a counter intuitive place to want to hang out with all the activity going in and out of the door, but she still loved hanging out in her bed with her blanket nonetheless. As she aged, she spent more and more time in that bed...

Right now I've pretty much eliminated the Rainbow Bridge themed urn and the black urn with the cat etched into it. It's between the cat in the cat bed urn and the simple purple brass urn with the paw prints on the lid now. J seems fond of the cat in the cat bed urn, largely because it reminds him of Jazz hanging out in her bed. I tend to agree, but man, do I love that beautiful purple urn, too!

Decisions, decisions...At least I've narrowed it down to two from four! That's progress...

I'm trying wholeheartedly to get into the holiday spirit. Why bother right now? I blame my Mother, whose favourite holiday was Christmas. She did it up BIG! I want to honor her memory by carrying on with a relatively normal, decent Christmas season. I've been listening to holiday music on and off while I've been home today. We did some Giftmas shopping and actually managed to finish off getting my niece's gifts taken care of. That was sort of fun, though it gets a bit harder in some ways to shop for her as she gets older. She wishes for fewer and more expensive things and I prefer to spoil her with several smaller things over one or two large-ish things. That being said I really think she's going to dig what I got her this year... ;)

J got all the Christmas crap out of the rafters of the garage and brought it into the house tonight with only a scraped knuckle, a sore arm and a copious amount of creative cursing. Two of the three trees are up--the big tree and the Peanut's tree for the dining room table. J's Grampa's ceramic tree is still in its box waiting to be placed in the den. Doing all that was enough for tonight--we'll try to do more tomorrow.

Lars and Ra are both terribly excited about all the "new" stuff in the living room. Lars is especially impressed with the big tree being up. He's already sat underneath it, all proud of himself. I'm praying to Bast and all other gods involved that he DOES NOT TRY TO CLIMB THE TREE!!! I shout because it's really a big concern of mine and I want all the gods to hear my plea! ;)

So yeah. It may be futile, but I'm trying to get into the holiday spirit...Wish me luck! :/
