I was wary to do it, but so far it seems to be going alright. No vomiting and only two incidents of diarrhea in the last week-ish I've been feeding her kibble regularly. I think that's pretty good.
The only problem? She's not wanting much to do with her I/D wet food. I can't just up and totally switch her over to straight kibble after so long off of it, else she risks diarrhea and vomiting--two things we DON'T want! So I called the vet today for advice. Seems I can probably switch her over a bit faster than I thought. She's been getting 1/8 cup of kibble twice a day for about a week now, so I can give her a third 1/8 cup a day for a couple of days, then up it again, etc. Obviously if her guts rebel in any way we have to cut back and slow down, but so far she's been a champ for the most part!
I'd like to see her off the I/D sooner rather than later. It's not that it's not kidney friendly, but it's obviously not as kidney friendly as Renal failure formulated K/D kibble. If her digestive system can hack it and she prefers it anyway, she should definitely be on it!
So that's good news. I'd had a bad feeling we were never going to get her back on the kibbles--even Dr. B. speculated she was unable to digest it anymore, mostly related to her age and her gut motility problems.
