Decided with the vaguely more increased grinding sensation in my injured right knee that at least a call into the doctor was in order this morning. I was seen at 1115.

Dr. G put my knee through the paces and it hurt! Big shock, LOL. Compared it to my good knee, determined it's likely just a knee bone contusion. It'll take 2-4 weeks for it to completely heal, and I'm to Rest, Ice the area, Compression with an elastic Ace bandage, and Elevate it (RICE, get it?;)) for the next several days to see if it gets any better. If things don't really improve, I'm to call back and he'll order x-rays to check for more damage. No yoga for at least this week, of course, which I'm fine with--I can't imagine trying to do Vinyasa yoga on this gnarly knee right now--the poses are quite knee labor intensive for that practice, so...no...Oh wells. I'll do fine without it for a week.

Had the nurse show me how to properly wrap my knee up, as I wanted to make sure I was doing it right; last night's wrap job was based on a text tutorial online, so...yeah... ;) Turns out I was mostly doing things correctly! Yay!! :)

Gained a bit of weight, which is not entirely surprising given the amount of junk food I've been ingesting lately. :/ I'm at about 133 1/2 pounds. :( Time to start dialing back/eliminating the crap...No more comfort eating for this girl! I've lost it before, I can lose it again...

Sigh. As Dr. G said, Ra's evasive techniques to avoid medication have now cost both J and myself money for injuries related to attempting to medicate him. Which made me laugh because the alternative was to get pissed or cry and I was not having that today. ;) He's anxiously awaiting the next stories in our saga with Ra. ;) Hopefully bodily injuries won't be among them!

In the Pam's A Klutz move this morning...

Ra and I were in the kitchen together, which was most fortuitous because it was time for his Atopica, usually his first med of the day. It's a liquid and dispensed with its own special syringe. He HATES the stuff and has been running away from me and fighting me when I finally catch him to give him the dose as of late.

Today was no exception. We were both in the kitchen and he saw me with the syringe and booked it, so I ran after him. Caught him by the stove and had him by one hand, syringe in the other and I tripped over my own feet, hit the floor HARD on my right knee, and (for good measure) slid same knee into the bottom of the stove. OUCH!! :(

It doesn't appear that I've caused any grievous damage to my knee, but the middle of my knee cap bruised instantly and the skin on my knee remains red even about an hour after this happened. No noticeable deformity and it doesn't hurt terribly, although it aches pretty darn good. :/ Hopefully my usual achy body cocktail of two extra strength tylenol, 600mg of ibuprofen, and a Flexeril will squash any pain I might end up feeling. I'll be keeping an appropriate eye on things as the day progresses, and assess again tomorrow before I decide whether I'll test that knee for yoga tomorrow afternoon.

As for Ra? Poor fucker still got all of his Atopica--I didn't spill a drop of the stuff as I fell, and though he fought the good fight I managed to get it all down his gullet. ;)
