He's being very shy, so it's not the best picture. I'll try to get a better one when he's feeling more himself and less embarrassed. ;)

First thing the groomer says to me as I'm walking to the grooming room--"Are you a Metallica fan?" :) "I sort of am of their old stuff," I said, "but the shelter came up with his name and we stuck with it because it seemed to suit him." She thought that was hella cool. :) She evaluated Lars' coat and suggested we forego the bathing portion of the package today, not knowing how Lars would react to everything, in order to spare him of added trauma of getting all shaved and then all wet and then going into the blow-dry cage. She suggested a dry shampoo treatment instead, which I agreed to. Then she said "Be back in about two hours and he'll be all set" and off I went to do Pam things while Lars got groomed.
Only ended up taking about an hour and fifteen minutes. She asked if I wanted his tail partially shaved, too, and I asked if that was really necessary--she said tails were usually the easiest part of the cat to keep groomed so we opted to leave it full and floofy. Overall, I think Jennie did a pretty darn good job on my boy. :) Because she didn't bathe/dry him, it only cost me $25!! :) I even gave her a tip, though I'm not sure if that's necessary. Hell, I tip my hair stylist, I might as well tip my cat's hair stylist if she does a good job, too.
Jennie was very nice, good with my cat, and very reassuring to both of us. She said Lars took the process like a champ and that maybe next time we'll give him that bath/blow-out. ;) I'll definitely be taking him back to her when he needs his hairs cut again.
As for Lars, he's definitely adjusting to not having all of that hair. He's been especially quiet this afternoon and was a bit distant with me when he first got home, but he laid down with me for a quick nap later in the afternoon, so I think all is forgiven. I think the extra treats I gave him helped me along on that front, too. ;) I think he's going to enjoy not having to fuss with all that hair this summer, too. :)
Ain't he just SO CUTE with his new 'do? :)
