The official total here in Bolingbrook is 15.8 inches. The official Chicago total at O'Hare Airport is 19.3 inches, making it the 5th biggest snowstorm in recorded weather history, evidently.
Had some brown outs throughout the day and evening yesterday, took J two-ish hours to clean out the driveway and walks before we could leave to do our shelter shift yesterday afternoon, the DirecTV satellite remains offline (dish is probably covered in snow--will be checking that in a little while), but otherwise we're fine.
Big-ass pile up out on I-294 south near I-55: http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/02/02/large-pileup-crash-on-i-294-snarls-traffic/ Happened around 0915 this morning, I guess. A total clusterfuck, which makes me ever so glad I don't have to make a trek up to K-town and back until later this month possibly. People, they don't know how to drive in this stuff, you see... :/ You'd think most people living here most of their lives, driving in this sort of weather year after year...yeah, not so much... :/
UPDATE: Just tried the TV again--huzzah for sun melt! The DirecTV is working again!! :) LOL, first world problems, I tell ya... ;)
J (and a good chunk of his colleagues, judging on his metrics) are working from remote today. He's taking me to a doctor's appointment to get a suspicious mole like thing checked out at 1500. Will be able to get there just fine with J's Expy; Bridget's probably a little too small to brave some of the drifts I know are still remaining out there...Glad J's going along for moral support--especially if they decide to remove the offending mole thingus from my person--he can serve to hold my hand and comfort me during same. ;)
More snow in the coming days, though not calling for any major accumulation that I know of. Winter in the Great Midwest--she's finally arrived!
