So we let Diva out last night and she didn't want to have anything to do with her food because she seemed too interested in exploring her old haunts. So, I grabbed her and put her and her food bowl back in the guest room so she could concentrate on at least eating her A/D with epakitin in it. She complied, at least I can say that.

I daresay she probably didn't get much kibble down her gullet last night because she was so distracted and Ra is a kibble eating fiend and probably ate most if not all of her kibble because of it. :(

So this morning after she got her fluids I figured she'd be hungry enough to want to camp out in front of her bowl for at least a little while and eat. Not so lucky there. She just sniffed at it and wandered off, allowing Ra the opening to get her food. I picked her up and put her back in front of her bowl. Much bitching ensued and she walked away.

Le sigh. So I did what I did last night. She's in the guest room again with her bowls, at least for a couple of hours until I can see she's eaten something. So far she's eaten some of her food--about 1/8 to 1/4 of it. I can accept that, but would like to see more before I let her out and refill the bowls out in the rest of the house. I'll be heading back in there so she doesn't take it as a punishment, further complicating things.

I just don't know about this switch to constant feed business. Ra is going to gain so much weight until he gets used to the switch over it's not even funny, and he's probably a little over ideal weight now. The sucky part is it's the way Diva and Jazz prefer eating and it's the only way I'll get them to eat consistently. ARGH!!!
Well, just outside of the box onto the litter catch mat...

Diva's sometimes got a problem with keeping her whole arse inside the box. Thankfully both boxes have litter catch mats to catch what doesn't get in the box.

Twice today there's been piss on the mat and hardly any clumped litter in the box. I didn't catch her using the box either time, so I don't know if that's the case, or if she didn't make it in there in time, or if she's just plain rejecting the box (which is shoveled clean, but it's been awhile since the box has been fully gutted). She used it fine yesterday, and she had more fluids in her yesterday than she's had today.

Of course we didn't get puppy pads down last night to protect the carpet, thinking all was well, so pee got on the carpet the first time, but only a little. The second time I thought "Hey, I'll just pick up the mat and pour the pee into the box" and spilled a bunch just over the edge of the puppy pad I'd put down. Figures, right? Lesson learned, important safety tip--thanks Egon!

Oh wells. I had a feeling this would happen. At least her urine is diluted so heavily right now it's like water. I know she can smell where she went, though, so I'll be spraying with nature's miracle liberally. Ugh. I used to be really squicked out by the cat's bodily fluids and their clean-up. Now I give two shits about it. Got some on me? Oh well, guess I should wash up vs. "!(#R)#@)# EEEEP! Cat goo!" freakout.

This is going to be an interesting adventure...
