We have three litter boxes--one in the hallway leading to the bedrooms, one in the guest bath and one in the guest bedroom for Diva when she's sequestered in there for her meals. The hallway box is HUGE and Ra claimed it basically for himself from the first we brought it home.
My plan for the evening's piss catching was to put Diva in the guest bedroom with her food, water, and "her" box overnight and Jazz in the guest bathroom with her little bed, some water, and the second box overnight after she ate her final meal. Ra would then have run of the rest of the house and access to "his" box with the special piss collecting litter in it.
I figured Jazz might fuss a little bit about being stuck in the bathroom, but...WOW!! She started banging on the door and crying about five minutes after I put her in there. She found the springy doorstop thingus at the base of the door and she's SPROING!! it every so often...
Whenever I got up to check the hallway litter box for piss she'd start banging and sproinging even louder after I left the hallway and went back to the bedroom. I checked the box twice, once around 0120 and once around 0300. After the second time checking the box the banging, sproinging and crying were in full effect. My poor, sweet Jazz was NOT going to be putting up with getting locked in the guest bathroom.
No way I was going to sleep through that cacophony...J was seeming to be having no problems, but I wasn't going to check to make sure until I figured I would let the girls out from their respective hidey holes.
It was around 0345 that I decided it was time to free the kittehs and end the experiment for the night. J was somewhat awake by now and he asked that I cover Ra's box with a garbage bag to protect the special litter inside. Not like the girls use that box very often, but this would be when they would try to...
The girls were freed at about 0350. Jazz RAN out of the bathroom, shooting me a nasty kitteh look in the process. Diva purrted and purred when she saw me and was happy to leave the guest bedroom. Jazz is now asleep in her little bed, back where it belongs next to the door here in the office. Unsure of where Diva went off to, but she's happy to be out. Ra, last I saw, was flumped in the hallway.
So, no piss for us. :( We'll either have to try again tomorrow night or bring him back into the vet for the bladder draw they didn't dare to attempt yesterday (and reasonably so, I might add, because he was so agitated from everything else he'd gone through). Ra, I am disappoint that you didn't piss before I couldn't take it anymore...
