If you're not on facebook or don't care either way, feel free to skip on by.
...and not for the better.
Not being able to subscribe to the "if it's not broken don't fix it" idea of business, facebook has completely redone its news feed. It's hard to explain, but it displays what they think you think is important status updates at the beginning of the feed based on how long it's been since you last signed into facebook. Then, allegedly, or at least it looks like to me anyway, the regular old recent news newsfeed is after that.
There was a supposed fix to put it back to the old school way of things--change language to UK English or Pirate. No longer valid, as the change has rolled over throughout.
Here's how I circumvented it. Remember when they added the pre-fab lists you could make for special groups of friends a few weeks ago? What I did was I added every one on my friends' list to "Close Friends" pre-fab empty list. I could've also created a new group and called it "everyone"...either way. It'll give you all your friends' updates, but none of your fan pages--still have to rely on the new feed for those.
Also, if you're reading within a list on facebook and want to post an update, that update will default only to that group, no way of changing it. Again, must go to the new fangled feed to make a post the old fashioned way.
So there's my tips for the day for facebook, for what it's worth. I really hope now that Google + is open to the public that it will start to catch on. Google + has its own problems, but it's a decent interface all things considered.
Here's a link to my profile over there:

If for some reason the link doesn't work, I'm Pamela Kersting over there and the pic of me is in a purple and white print shirt with a dark purple heart shaped choker on a black band around my neck. Feel free to add me; just send me a message letting me know your username here on LJ/dreamwidth. I know most of y'all's names anyway, but it's a good reminder in case I brain fart. So, yeah. Google +!
