Don't know when you're home and/or have access to a T.V., but I would bet they'll show the footage of both the assault and the arrest on the major "news" channels during their morning "news shows". I know I'm gonna tune in to Milwaukee news later...;)

I heard about this on the Chicago news. All I could think was what the hell was that for and why? What a stupid ass and what was he trying to prove? "Geezum I'm a badass I clobbered the sausage hurr hurr." Dunno the laws up there but here that's aggravated assault/assault and battery.

I mean, every ball club has its traditions (i.e. the guest conductors of the 7th Inning Stretch at Wrigley... and most of them seem to be trying to sing as badly as Harry Caray did, hee). Some people might think they're lame but I'm of the opinion of if you don't like, don't look (or just wait patiently for the sausage races or the singing to stop and move right along).

I wonder if Simon realizes that his actions reflect on the team. To me this is something far worth more screaming about than Sammy Sosa's corked bat, for Sammy didn't hurt anybody except himself.

Well, if he didn't realize what the effect was right after it happened, I'm sure he got a clue really fast after all that media coverage today. I'm sure he's feeling like a really gigantic asshat right about now. I wonder what team management or the powers that be in MLB will end up doing to him. Hopefully he'll at least be fined something...

The next burning question: will he come back to contest the ticket/fine on his court date???? Hopefully he'll just suck it up and pay the fine, which would at least serve as a sort of admission that he fucked up. But, then again, that would make sense, right?

Someone posted about this in (I believe) mock_the_stupid. I certainly hope they weren't mocking that the guy got arrested, because that's such a low thing to do to another human being.

I read that community, too. I think the post was a combo package of Simon being an ass for assaulting the costumed character and making fun of the absurdity of the whole thing. I feel for anyone who dresses up as a mascot. All those kids poking at you all the time, drunks fucking with you, and now asshats attacking you...Not to mention the fact that a huge costume like that must be hotter than a motherfucker in the summer time!!! Yow!!!!
