Ra did well overnight at the hospital on the constant drip of fluids with potassium, and was stable enough to get the endoscopy done around 1100 yesterday morning.

The procedure went well, though not much of the obvious nature was found. The stomach was normal and fine, but there were some problems in his small intestine--a small amount of inflammation, some abnormal "cobbling" and redness. Also, when they pulled out the scope from that area, they discovered the scope had left some bruising of the small intestine just below the surface as it came out--not a normal thing to happen in a healthy small intestine, so...Biopsies were taken from the stomach and the small intestine, and we won't get the results back until at least late Friday or Monday some time.

We're also waiting for the results of the kidney evaluation, which consisted of re-reading the abdominal ultrasound looking at the kidneys again, the blood draw for kidney blood values, and a urinalysis. That should be in the next day or two--at least that's how long it takes for same to come back from Dr. B's office and he doesn't have an in-house lab for that sort of thing like VCA does.

He came home with two new meds--potassium supplement that he needs to take every 12 hours and is so large we have to split the pill and give it to him in two parts; and mirtazepine, which is the appetite stimulant he was on with Dr. B but that Dr. B took him off because he didn't want Ra on it longer term. That's on top of the Zantac, the methimazole, the prednisone, and the enulose. He's also back on K/D kibbles, which he eats but doesn't really enjoy, so I mixed some of his old Blue Buffalo Freedom kibble in with the K/D this morning and he ate more, so...yeah..

Sigh. It's gonna be a lot of work to get him back to something resembling normal again, and a lot of time, methinks. That's if we're lucky. Sweet Bast, I hope we're lucky...
