It's been at least a couple of weeks since I last posted about any problems. Things had been going pretty well--yeah, Jazz is still peeing outside the box, but that's just considered a part of our "new normal" with her, so it's not even worth really mentioning.

Jazz hasn't been eating very well the last dayish. It started during her early evening feed yesterday when she only ate about 3/4 of what I gave her (about 1 1/2 teaspoons or about a tablespoon). Then her last feed of the day she only ate about half of it.

This morning when the alarm went off she wasn't in the bed with me pestering me to get up to feed her, nor was she in the office by her bowl waiting for me...Odd, that...So I feed her and she barely eats anything. A couple of licks at it, that was it.

I thought it could be because it was the last of a refrigerated can, so I opened a new can and tried again about an hour later. She ate about 2/3 of what I gave her (her usual approx. tablespoon). She usually gobbles down the first feed out of a fresh can...

Le sigh. Call the vet. Dr. B. says to continue to monitor her intake (I always do anyways) and to call back tomorrow if her appetite hasn't picked back up. I ask if I should give her an appetite stimulant pill to kick-start things--he says no, to wait, and if her appetite doesn't pick back up on its own to call tomorrow...

Her mid-afternoon feed didn't go any better--only 1/3 to 1/2 eaten. Methinks a call to the vet is going to be in order tomorrow morning...

She's drinking and going to the bathroom alright. She's a bit less peppy than normal, but not enough to consider lethargic. She's contented herself with sunning herself in the sliver of sunlight coming in the back porch sliding door (we've got the blinds drawn to keep the heat out) most of the day. I'm really hoping she's having an "off" day. I really don't want to have to bring her in, dammit!

Ah, the roller coaster of owning elderly kittehs... :/

She didn't eat but a dab of her usual I/D wet food (which she usually snarfs down pretty well) after she got her fluids/meds tonight, so I busted out the Secret Weapon--tuna.

Usually she perks up the second I open a can from the smell, but not tonight. It was one of those small cans and not so smelly of tuna; that and she's aged since the last time I've had to use the Secret Weapon, so her sniffer might not be as strong as it used to be.

Anyway, I put down about a teaspoon to start. Once it was in her bowl she perked right up and came trotting (yes, trotting!) to her bowl to eat. Ate all of it. Gave her about an hour to digest it (don't want her to barf), then put out a bit more. Again, snarfed it all down. She's now in her little bed in the office, resting after her small feast.

I know she can't live on hoomin tuna, but for a temp fix to gauge how she's truly feeling it does the trick. If she doesn't eat her I/D wet tomorrow, I'm calling the vet back for guidance.

Also--J checked her ears, eyes and gums tonight while she was getting her fluids. No signs of jaundice in her ears and eyes and her gums are nicely pink. All Good Signs. It's not that she hasn't been eating at all, mind, just that she's eating half again what she ought to be that's got me worried...
