Since Jazz got sick, she stopped wanting to eat her normal poo making concoction of mature turkey formula with miralax/benefiber/baby squash. So I switched her to A/D crisis food so she would actually eat and only added miralax to it. She's eating that, thank the gods, but it's definitely not the same as if she were on her regular food routine...

Result? She hasn't had a bowel movement since Sunday morning. Ugh, we're back to this again? :/

We're in a conundrum. We've got enulose (the old poo making standby) in the house again, left over from Jazz, which we could give her, but it's got this side effect of possibly making serum calcium levels go up. This, obviously, is something we don't need given her serum calcium is already off the chart...

We were told in the past to give her laxotone hairball remedy if she became acute again with the constipation. She HATES the stuff. HATES it. It's messy and horrible to force feed a cat. But we did so this morning; J got bit in the process. :/ We don't even know if we got enough into her compared to what she and J ended up wearing to make a difference.

Curious, I called the vet to ask about the enulose. Yep, give it to her--3ccs this morning, 3ccs tonight. If no results by morning, bring her in. So that's what we're gonna do.

I'm still going to push the miralax in her food as well. Hopefully this tour de force will make something happen. I wish I could get her back on her former coctail of food, but she's somewhat resisting just the miralax in her regular food. I don't want to continue to feed her A/D unless she absolutely refuses her turkey. She needs to get back into her routine, and fast! I hope I can eventually get her back on a good schedule again relatively quickly, dammit! I worked so hard to get her regular, too, and now that's (pardon the pun) all shot to shit and I have to start over. What a drag, man. What a drag.

I've been feeding her a quarter to 1/3 teaspoon of I/D every 1 1/2 hours while I'm awake. She begs for more and I know she's dying for some kibble, but I am being very conservative on how I feed her lest she vomit. My plan is working so far--she hasn't vomited since Monday night! This is A Good Thing. One day at at time, baby, one day at a time.

We figured the lixotinic vitamin "tonic" we give her every day might be a bit rich for her tummy right now, so we've split the dose in half and give her half in the morning and wait about 45 minutes to feed her, and the rest about an hour before we give her her nightly meds/fluids. We started this last night. Hopefully this will work out for her, too.

Output has been questionable, though it's hard for me to know how much she's actually peeing with two other cats using the boxes. Her poo is distinct and she doesn't cover, so I know how much is going on in that dept. The answer--not much, but at least she went overnight a little bit. Something's better than nothing in the elimination game, and she's not really been eating all that much all things considered to leave me a giant sized present so it's all good.

She's vocal, alert and affectionate. I'm cautiously optimistic she's slowly coming out of the woods from whatever illness she's fighting off. Today I'm going to start feeding her between 1/3 and 1/2 teaspoon of I/D every 1 1/2 hours to see how she manages a little bit more food. Perhaps she'll be less beggy in between feeds, but somehow I doubt it since the pred enhances appetite and she's already on an appetite stimulant (she gets it every other day; we were trying to start weaning her off it when she got sick) and today's her "on" day for that so she's really wound up for food. ;) We shall see.
