...I went on basically amounted to a blind date arranged by a friend of mine from work (waves at Lydia, also says hi to her hubby Bren, who was also somewhat in on the deal). It was a double dinner date at a now-defunct local restaurant, followed by a weekend at Lydia's and Bren's house hanging out, getting to know each other. We accomplished this with bad TeeVee, lots of conversation, and (of course) a bit of alcohol. ;)
I remember what he was wearing (a charcoal grey short sleeved button down with a black tee underneath and black jeans). I remember what I was wearing (St. Paddy's day related teeshirt, jeans, flannel shirt and black chucks), and feeling woefully casual in comparison. We conversed over my cross-stitching and his laptop. Stories were spun, jokes were told, we talked about everything and nothing. Sparks flew. We could be ourselves with each other and neither of us scared the other away. Amazing! We'd both been so burned before...Could it be, this time, we'd met our match?
Yes. Yes, it definitely *could* be. And so it has been for six years. Through the good and the not-so-good. Thorns and all. Thick and thin, all that rot. ;) And together we remain...
Happy sixth anniversary, Jason. I love you to the moon and back again.
