Yep. Still sick. The runny nose and coughing started today. I'll take it if it means the body soreness and weakness goes away. Both of those seem to be easing a bit, and I haven't spiked a fever above 99.6 yet. I'm guessing that's because I'm taking tylenol religiously every 4 hours. And, I've found a new use for the electric blanket--giant heating pad for my sore legs!
I decided to call good old Dr. Bloom today to let him know I had the flu and was starting to get respiratory symptoms. So far he prescribed me Zithromax to prevent any secondary bacterial respiratory infection and I get to go out into the impending snow storm tomorrow morning and see him at 11:00. Since mom went to see him today, that'll be two Kerstings in two days for him. I hope he's got the stones to take it.;)
Mom's venturing out tonight to pick up the prescription and a few staple items like soup, 7-up, crackers, and COFFEEMATE (can't be out of coffeemate!) so I don't have to go any place I don't have to go until I feel better. I'm thinking that's how I got this confounded virus in the first place.
*slowly steps onto sick person soap box
Speaking as a person living with asthma who's got a mom with COPD: PLEASE!!! DO NOT GO OUT INTO PUBLIC IF YOU'RE STILL CONTAGIOUS WITH ANY SORT OF RESPIRATORY ILLNESS!!! What would be about a week's worth of annoyance and inconvenience for you could result in serious consequences for someone like me or my mom. If you do have to go out, cover your mouth whenever you cough or sneeze and wash your hands often. And, for the love of the goddess, if you've got kids--please help them do the same. No, you can't possibly cover every cough or sneeze or always make sure their little noses aren't running all over the place if they're too little to do it for themselves, but every little bit helps so much. Nothing gives me fits more than a harried looking mom with a passel of under 10 kids with icky gross snot streaming down their little faces coughing and sneezing and grabbing at everything with slick snotty hands at the grocery store...(that said, it does not infer the parents I have as friends on my list would do that sorta thing--just wanted to make sure I said that!)
/steps unsteadily off soapbox.
Hey, maybe I'll feel good enough to actually do some tidying around here tonight. I don't know about you, but I hate being sick and look around at the mess I've created whilst I've been sick and too weak to pick up after myself. And I must feel better soon anyway because I desperately need to do laundry. Yes, me of the dozens of pairs of underpants is running out of clean ones...:0 (For those new around here, I don't have onsite laundry facilities--I drag all my laundry to mom's).
