The elderly man who was struck by the drunk driver a week-ish ago has died from his injuries. I found this news out when I looked at the case on Wisconsin circuit court online access. The driver appeared in court this morning and the one charge of injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle was changed to homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Upon reading this, I started to cry, of course. How sucky and sad is it to spend the last conscious moments of your life sprawled on a dewy patch of lawn between two houses, curled in a fetal position with a bunch of cops and people from the neighborhood staring down at you in shock and horror? One second he was taking a late night walk and the next...I hope my beliefs are correct and he is in a better place, free of pain and whole again. I also hope that if his family and friends believe as I do that they take comfort from that belief.
...as in Snap! Crackle! Pop! go those pesky ol' joints! Today at the gym I probably popped my left shoulder when I stretched. Damned thing still hurts, so I think I'll probably ice it later. Made working out fun, too.;) And I had to wear my "dammit!" shoes (as in "dammit! I left my good pair of tennies at home!), which made walking the track a drag, too. Grrrr...Must remember to put the prefered footwear in my backpack and the dammit shoes back in the trunk...
