***Finally heard something from the state about the job--got my appointment letter. Here's what it says: that I'm a Probation and Parole Agent (A) at the 60th street office; 12 month probation; starting pay (how does a person make $13.855 an hour?); that I'm part of the professional social services certified bargaining unit of the state employees union (and that I have to pay dues! Really?). Finally, it says to report to some women at 9:30 AM on October 13th in a large office building containing several state agencies in Madison "for assignment of your duties and responsibilities." Hell, they didn't even enclose a yahoo map with directions--I got that much when I got my interview letter! Nothing about whether I'll go right into ABT (training), where THAT is, where I'm supposed to stay (or even if I'll be up there for more than just a meeting with the random state person), etc. Fortunately, there's a phone number on the letterhead, so if I don't get any further correspondence by the middle of next week with more enlightening information I'll call...
***Still sneezing and wheezing up a storm. It's seasonal allergies. What a mess I am--sensitive to temperature extremes of winter and summer and an allergy case in spring and fall. Go me. Hopefully I won't end up with a nice upper respiratory infection just in time to start my new job! (/sarcasm)
***RIP Robert Palmer, Edward Said, George Plimpton. It's been a bad month for celebrities.
***I want to write something eloquent about the passing of Johnny Cash eventually. I grew up on his music--he was one of dad's favorites. I keep wondering if dad's met him in heaven yet, along with Hank Williams, John Wayne, and all his other favorites.
Good Dog! It's after 3AM now! Time to get my ass to bed!
